Family Cycling

There are a number of cycle tracks in the Exmoor North Devon and West Somerset area suitable for family cycling, though with young children you may need to select your route with stops and refreshments in mind. I hope you find the following useful.



The Green Trail – (Dunster Estate) a family cycle trail of 1 mile

The Grand Western Canal Country Park and Local Nature Reserve – 11 miles – easy riding / walking.

Tarka Trail – 180 miles in a figure-of-eight in the northern part of Devon based on Barnstaple; a stretch of the route makes use of the Tarka Line railway



For the more dedicated and experienced

The Exmoor Beast Cycle Challenge – Sunday the 20th October 2013 100 miles or 100 kilometre

Mondraker Gravity – July 6th/7th 2013 – 2 days of MTB on Exmoor

Devon Coast to Coast – 102 miles Ilfracombe to Plymouth

The West Country Way – 240 miles Padstow to Bristol or Bath (via Saltford) 

The Exmoor Cycle Route – 60 miles based on the 2007 Tour of Britain Exmoor stage

Exmoor Beauty Cycle Challenge – Sunday 21st April 2013 – enjoy the scenery of Exmoor

Two Moors 100 – Sunday 21st July 2013 – 100 mile ( 160 km ) visiting both Exmoor and Dartmoor or 100 km (62 m).
